MY STORY
As a child, I grew up with a fascination for gaming. It began in elementary school chess club, and once I got my first video game console (a PSP, for those of you who remember those days!), I couldn’t get enough of it. Some of my favorite games were chess, Settlers of Catan, Risk, Hearthstone, and Pokemon. I loved playing these games, and improving my strategy and becoming a better player was a huge draw.
However, I felt that games that allowed skill expression were often too complex for a new player to easily approach, and those that are approachable do not reward strategy and experience. I wanted a game where a new player could pick up the premise and strategy quickly, but an experienced player could plan ahead and find the best moves in each situation. In other words, I wanted a game where you can make a flashy and genius play, and someone that’s never played the game before can still understand what’s going on.
Thus, TERRITORY was born. It began as a sketch on a notebook one sleepless night, where I could finally put these thoughts down on paper. I envisioned a turn based battle taking place over a grid of tiles, where you could manage unique and powerful units to outpower your opponent. I developed the concept into prototypes, and it evolved as I gathered feedback and practice.
Today, two years since its conception, my journey in developing TERRITORY has brought me back to my childhood passions in art and gaming. I am excited to take this to the next level, and bring a new form of fun to tabletops across the nation and world. Please consider helping me on my journey – in order to manufacture, distribute, and market the game, I need anything you can give me. Thank you for supporting independent game creators!
